The Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission is sponsoring a free bus ride to the 80th anniversary of D-Day in Conneaut on Saturday.
Guests will:
• Experience the largest D-Day living history event in the U.S.
• Interact with more than 1,500 living history reenactors of World War II, U. S., Commonwealth and Germany armed forces, plus French Resistance and 1940s civilians.
• Explore pre-invasion encampments of Allied and Axis forces and their tactical support elements, as well as historical exhibits.
• See training exercises and demonstrations of weapons, vehicles, boats and aircraft.
• Experience three unique battle recreations, plus French Resistance skirmishes.
• Watch Allied troops land via amphibious craft during the invasion and attack Axis defenses on the bluffs overlooking the "Normandy" beach, as military aircraft patrol overhead in the climactic battle of the event.
•Meet World War II veterans to honor them in person and learn about their experiences first-hand.

Guests must be a veteran and can bring one guest, who does not have to be a veteran. The bus will leave from the Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission, 1915 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, at 7 a.m. Saturday, everyone should arrive by 6:30 a.m. The bus will return to the office at 6 p.m.
