YOUNGSTOWN -- Several instances of gunfire were reported in Youngstown on Saturday,, including a felonious assault that involved Shawn M. Grant, 21, being charged with felonious assault for allegedly shooting a woman at the Plaza View Apartments on Plaza View Court on the East Side.
A Youngstown police report states that officers were called to the apartments at 9 a.m. Saturday for a woman who had been shot. The police department crime lab was called to the scene as part of the investigation, the report states.
The report does not provide any additional information on how or where Grant was taken into custody or how serious the woman's injuries are. Grant was arraigned Monday afternoon in Youngstown Municipal Court and has a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Aug. 3.
Grant appears to have no other criminal history in Mahoning County.
OTHER GUNFIRE
There were three other instances of gunfire in the city Saturday.
At 10:42 p.m., officers were sent to Zents Avenue on the North Side for bullets hitting a house. A person there said his or her house "was shot at again," even though he said he did not know why.
An officer determined that the house was hit a previous time May 11. On Saturday, two apparent bullet holes were found in a panel of glass on the front of the house. The other was in the wood of the same window pane.
The officer could see the earlier bullet holes from the previous shooting, the report states.
The bullets on Saturday both traveled through a television set and into the wall. Adults and a child were home at the time of the gunfire.
At 3:50 a.m. Saturday, a home on East Avondale Avenue on the South Side was hit two times by gunfire. No one was injured. The report states that the bullets hit a window.
And at 11:02 a.m. Saturday, police were called to a home on East Lucius Avenue on the South Side, where a person told police the home was struck by gunfire "sometime overnight."
The person said he or she was still awake at 1:35 a.m. and the window of her home was not damaged.
When the person woke up Saturday morning, the glass in his or her door was broken. Shattered glass was on the ground and a bullet hole in the front door.
