Woman, 30, startles woman in bathroom of North Side home

YOUNGSTOWN — Nina Mayer, 30, is in the Mahoning County jail charged with felony burglary for an incident early Friday in which she startled a Fifth Avenue woman by walking into the resident’s bathroom after allegedly breaking into the home.

A Youngstown police report states that the resident told police she was in her upstairs master bedroom’s bathroom doing her hair a little after midnight when a woman she did not know “walks right in the bathroom.”

The resident asked who she was, and Mayer rambled about how she came in for a shower, water and food and that “everyone in the house is dead,” the report states.

The resident screamed for her daughter and her husband, who ran to the bathroom and took Mayer downstairs until police officers arrived. When officers arrived, the residents had Mayer restrained.

Officers were advised of the part of the house where Mayer came in. The report states that there were no signs of forced entry and that the door Mayer used had not closed completely.

An officer spoke with Mayer, who said she was hungry and thirsty and assumed the home was abandoned, so she just walked in and took water.

Mayer was taken into custody and taken to the Mahoning County jail. She informed officers that she was pregnant.

Mayer was arraigned Friday on a fourth-degree felony burglary charge and she is due back for a preliminary hearing June 18, court records show. If convicted, she could get about 18 months in prison.

Starting at $3.85/week.
