Medina man pleads guilty to attempted felonious assault involving a child
YOUNGSTOWN — George Conrad Jr., 77, of Medina, pleaded guilty Monday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to one count of attempted felonious assault involving a child.
Conrad was facing charges of gross sexual imposition and attempted gross sexual imposition, but in his plea agreement, prosecutors amended the gross sexual imposition to attempted felonious assault and dismissed the attempted gross sexual imposition. The attempted felonious assault is not a sex offense, according to prosecutors.
The attempted felonious assault is a third-degree felony, punishable by nine to 36 months in prison, Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge Anthony Donofrio said during Conrad’s plea hearing. Prison is not mandatory in this case, Donofrio noted.
Conrad will be sentenced at 9:30 a.m. June 24.
Conrad’s indictment alleged that his crimes were committed between 2014 and 2017 and involved a child.
Court documents related to the case state that the Springfield Township Police Department investigated the matter in 2024. Conrad was indicted in September.
