Boardman man found pantless at Sheetz store

BOARDMAN — A local man is charged with causing a scene at a local gas station over the weekend.

Shane McClung, 44, of Boardman, faces a minor misdemeanor charge of public indecency after police found him inside the Sheetz near Southern Park Mall, allegedly without pants.

The incident was reported just after 6 a.m. Saturday. Employees at the store said McClung was pantless, pacing back and forth, talking to himself, approaching customers and yelling at employees to get him a towel.

The report states that when police arrived and confronted McClung, he told them the shower had flooded at the motel where he was staying, his pants were wet and that employees had provided him with a towel.

The report states police saw a pair of black jogging pants on the floor that belonged to McClung, but he refused to put them on.

The report states that two Sheetz food-prep and drive-thru employees told police they saw McClung’s exposed genitals and wanted to pursue criminal charges against him.

The store manager also stated she had instructed McClung to leave the business and he refused. She requested that he be formally trespassed from the property.

Boardman dispatchers also notified officers that McClung had an active warrant for failure to appear on a disorderly conduct charge from Blair County, Pennsylvania.

He was transported to the Mahoning County jail and appeared in Mahoning County Boardman Court Tuesday, where Judge Joseph Houser imposed a $1,500 cash or surety bond and set a pretrial hearing June 16, court records show.

Trumbull County Court records show that McClung was charged in March in Niles Municipal Court with sexual battery and sexual imposition — a third-degree felony and third-degree misdemeanor, respectively. Those cases were bound over to a Trumbull County grand jury, which in May declined to indict McClung.

Mahoning County Court records show McClung lives on Cook Avenue in Boardman, while Trumbull County records show an address on South Turner Road. The Cook and South Turner addresses are roughly 12 miles apart, however the birthdates and mugshots across county records are identical.
