Boardman fire crews called to plaza fire

The Boardman Township Fire Department is investigating the cause of a weekend fire at a business in a U.S. Route 224 shopping center.

Reports indicate the fire crews were called after 7 a.m. Saturday to the Presidential Square Shopping Center on Boardman-Poland Road.

Reports indicate several businesses in the shopping center and nearby area were closed due to smoke from a fire at one business. There was smoke seen coming from the roof of the restaurant.

Fire officials said the fire started at Cafe India.

Crews were at the scene for several hours.

There were no reported injuries.

Fire officials said some businesses had smoke damage and lost power.

Assisting at the fire were crews from Cardinal, Western Reserve and Youngstown fire departments.

The state fire marshal is assisting with the investigation.
