Trumbull County saves $25K in interest via state program

Staff report

Trumbull County saved $25,902 in interest costs for various projects by using the state treasurer’s Ohio Market Access Program.

This is the third time Trumbull County has used OMAP, saving it a total of $102,818.

“OMAP leverages the state’s high short-term credit rating and excess liquidity to help communities borrow at lower costs when investing in various infrastructure projects,” State Treasurer Robert Sprague said.

The latest effort is for various water and sewer projects, including the waterlines on and near State Road in Champion and Southington and sanitary sewers for the Meadowbrook area of Warren Township, as well as replacing elevators in the county administration building.

Since its creation in 2014, OMAP has supported almost 400 deals, saving more than $8.4 million for local governments.

Starting at $3.23/week.
