Road work in the Valley

The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced several road closures and adjustments in Mahoning and Trumbull counties starting next week.

MAHONING COUNTY

• Starting Monday, the ramp from Mahoning Avenue eastbound to Interstate 680 southbound will permanently close. Motorists wishing to access I-680 southbound will use Glenwood Avenue to High Street.

• Starting Monday, I-680 between state Route 193 (Belmont Avenue) and South Avenue will have occasional lane restrictions through mid-April for paving.

• Starting March 30, I-680 from just south of U.S. Route 224 to the Pennsylvania turnpike in Boardman and Beaver townships will have various lane restrictions for pavement repairs and resurfacing. The estimated completion date is July.

• Starting Monday, U.S. Route 422 under Wick Avenue will have various lane restrictions for the Wick Avenue bridge deck replacement. The estimated completion date is late August.

• Construction is continuing on the I-680 noise wall in Boardman, with various lane restrictions from just north of US 224 to state Route 170. The estimated completion date is late December.

• Construction also is continuing on the U.S. 224 bridge replacement in Canfield Township. Route 224 over the Ohio Turnpike is reduced to one lane in each direction through fall.

TRUMBULL COUNTY

• Starting in the evening April 6 and continuing through the morning of April 14, the following Interstate 80 ramps will be closed between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. for pedestrian bridge repairs: I-80 west to U.S. 422 in Girard. The detour will be state Route 711 to Gypsy Lane to Route 422; and Route 422 west to I-80 east. The detour will be Route 711 to I-80.

•Also starting April 6, the pedestrian bridge over I-80 just east of Route 422 will be closed through April 13. The pedestrian detour will use Maple Avenue to Route 422 to Morris Avenue.

• I-80 eastbound just west of the Pennsylvania line in Hubbard has lane restrictions for a pavement replacement project being overseen by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
