Poland board to reopen post for superintendent
The Poland Board of Education will look for candidates inside the district for the post of superintendent.
“After careful consideration, the board of education has decided to reissue the posting for the superintendent position as an internal opportunity within the district,” board President Troy Polis said in a news release Thursday night.
“Reissuing the posting internally is intended to make clear that the board welcomes and will give full and fair consideration to qualified internal applicants who may be interested in serving in the role.
On Monday, the board met with the three finalists for the post. They were interim Superintendent Andrew Tommelleo, Andreas Johansson and Anna Minor.
“Selecting a superintendent is one of this board’s most important responsibilities,” Polis said. “As part of that responsibility, the board is ensuring it is gathering the information necessary to make a thoughtful and well-informed decision in the best interest of the district and our community.
“The board also appreciates the feedback shared by community members from the stakeholder survey and public forum. The board continues to take that input into account as the process moves forward.”
Polis said the next step will be “a careful and deliberate process.”
