ODOT construction work gets under way

The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Mahoning County over the next several weeks. All scheduled work is weather permitting.

INTERSTATE 680 PAVEMENT REPLACEMENT PROJECT, YOUNGSTOWN

•The ramp from Mahoning Avenue eastbound to Interstate 680 southbound is closed permanently. Motorists wishing to access I-680 southbound will use Glenwood Avenue to High Street.

•I-680 between state Route193 and South Avenue has occasional lane restrictions through mid-April.

•Beginning April 13, I-680 northbound between South Avenue and state Route 193 will be closed through summer 2027. The detour will be U.S. Route 62 to U.S. Route 422 to Route 193.

Also beginning April 13, the following ramps will be closed through summer 2027:

•I-680 north to Route 193. The detour will be U.S. 62/state Route 7 to U.S. 422 to Route 193.

•Marshall Street to I-680 north. The detour will be Glenwood Avenue to Mahoning Avenue to Belle Vista Avenue.

•I-680 north to Glenwood/Mahoning avenues. The detour will be South Avenue to Front Street to Marshall Street.

•Market Street to I-680 north. The detour will be Woodland Avenue to Hadnet Drive to South Avenue to U.S. 62/Route 7 to U.S. 422 to Route 193.

•Woodland Avenue to I-680 north. The detour will be Woodland Avenue to Hadnet Drive to South Avenue to U.S. 62/Route 7 to U.S. 422 to Route 193.

•Route 62 west/Route 7 south to I- 680 north. The detour will be Woodland Avenue to Hadnet Drive to South Avenue to U.S. 62/Route 7 to U.S. 422 to Route 193.

INTERSTATE 680 NOISE WALL INSTALLATION, BOARDMAN

•I-680 northbound has various lane restrictions from just north of U.S. Route 224 to state Route 170. Estimated completion is late December.

INTERSTATE 680 RESURFACING PROJECT, BOARDMAN AND BEAVER

•Beginning Monday, I-680 from just south of U.S. 224 to the Pennsylvania Turnpike will have various lane restrictions for pavement repairs and resurfacing. Estimated completion is late July.

WICK AVENUE BRIDGE DECK REPLACEMENT, YOUNGSTOWN

U.S. 422 under Wick Avenue has various lane restrictions for bridge repairs. Estimated completion is late August.

ROUTE 224 BRIDGE REPAIRS, POLAND AND CANFIELD

•Beginning April 6 and continuing through April 10, Route 224 just east of Water Street in Poland will be reduced to one lane in each direction for bridge repairs.

•Route 224 over I-76/Ohio Turnpike in Canfield Township is reduced to one lane in each direction through fall for a bridge replacement being performed by the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission.

TRUMBULL COUNTY

The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Trumbull County next week. All scheduled work is weather permitting.

INTERSTATE 80 PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE REPAIRS, GIRARD

Beginning the evening of April 6 and continuing through the morning of April 14, the following ramps will be closed nightly between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.:

•Interstate 80 west to U.S. Route 422. The detour will be state Route 711 to Gypsy Lane to Route 422.

•Route 422 west to I-80 east. The detour will be Route 711 to I-80.

•Beginning the evening of April 6 and continuing through the morning of April 14, I-80 eastbound and westbound at Route 422 will have various nightly lane restrictions between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.

•Beginning April 6, the pedestrian bridge over I-80 just east of Route 422 will be closed through April13. The pedestrian detour will utilize Maple Avenue to Route 422 to Morris Avenue.

INTERSTATE 80, HUBBARD TOWNSHIP

•I-80 eastbound just west of the Pennsylvania State line has various lane restrictions for a pavement replacement project being overseen by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Motorists should expect delays in this area.

STATE ROUTE 46 INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS, HOWLAND

Beginning Wednesday, the state Route 46 and East Market Street intersection will have various lane restrictions with traffic maintained by flaggers for the addition of turn lanes. Estimated completion is October 2027.
