LOOP arts center receives $10,000 grant

LOOP Youngstown Arts + Culture Center received a $10,000 grant from the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley.

These funds will support day-to-day operations as LOOP works to open a new art space that will house artist studios, workshops, exhibitions and community programs. They are under contract to purchase a building at 805 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown.

The money comes from the foundation’s Rick Shale Fund, CFMV Arts and Culture Fund and The Charles and Priscilla Latham Memorial Fund.

According to LOOP board chair Karen Schubert, “The support from these endowments that memorialize some of our dearest community members is an incredible honor. We are grateful to the foundation for seeing value in our project, and we will work hard to be good stewards of these precious funds.”

The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley awards grants through a competitive application and review process.

“We’re proud to support LOOP Youngstown and their work to build a vibrant arts and culture hub that creates space and opportunity for artists across the Mahoning Valley,” according to Community Foundation President Casey Krell. “Organizations like LOOP play an important role in strengthening our community by fostering creativity, connection, and collaboration, and we’re grateful for the impact they have on local artists and residents throughout our region.”

Starting at $3.23/week.
