YOUNGSTOWN — A head-on collision took the life of one of the people in the two cars Wednesday afternoon on Lansdowne Boulevard near Nair Street on the East Side.

The 12:30 p.m. crash killed the driver of a red sport utility vehicle that collided head-on with a white SUV, said Lt. Robert Gentile of the Youngstown Police traffic division. The red SUV was traveling south on Landsdowne. The white SUV was traveling north.

A child in the red SUV was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and was in stable condition later. The driver of the white SUV also was taken to the hospital, Gentile said.
