WHAT: Township trustees meeting Tuesday
PRESENT: Steve Gerberry, Ed Whittaker and Rich Harkins
Trustees:
•Increased the hourly rate for part-time police officers from $18 to $20 per hour in order to attract more candidates.
•Hired Jacob Sigley as a part-time police officer and accepted the resignation of Nathan Novotny as a full-time police officer. He has accepted a position with the Niles Police Department.
•Hired Evan Warholic as a probationary firefighter and Connor Shilling as a junior firefighter.
•Approved use of the township park for the Flag Day festival June 8-14.
•Designated Whittaker as an alternate to the annual meeting of the Trumbull County Combined Health District Advisory Council and delegating vote authority.
•Announced the annual veterans banner program is open with up to 52 banners to be installed on light poles in the township park. Banner orders are being accepted through March 13. Information is available at the township social media site or at the administration offices.
•Were notified by Armstrong Cable of an upcoming rate increase for video service and internet service.
•Recognized probationary firefighter Jordan Stremo for passing the Firefighter 1 training and for passing the firefighter certification.
•Reported the Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership received an Ohio Environmental Protection Agency grant to remediate and remove the abandoned gas station at 3625 Main St. Officials said the project is out for bids.
