WHAT: February board of education meeting
PRESENT: Walter Baber, Kristin Fox, Joseph Fuline, Robert Noble and Ron Shives
The board:
● Recognized the district’s school bus drivers for their years of dedication.
● Approved the financial report and investments for January.
● Approved the February financial forecast for submission to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
● Approved creation of an account for school bus safety.
● Approved creation of the Robert Kimbrough (Class of 1938) and Brian Edwards (Class of 1983) honorary scholarships.
● Approved the 2025-26 Struthers High School curriculum guide. and the Struthers Local School District gifted policy and plan.
● Approved a memorandum of understanding with Stark State College for the College Credit Plus program.
● Approved continued membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association for 2026-27 school year.
● Approved retirement for Donna Durick as a paraprofessional/aide at Struthers Middle School.
● Approved retirement for Cathy Thomas as a paraprofessional/print and resource at Struthers High School.
● Approved resignation of John Kohser as freshmen volleyball coach.
● Approved resignation for Jennifer Jones as assistant track coach.
● Approved the following donations: 1,500 chocolate heart suckers valued at $2,385 from Krista Giannios Kaydo/ Giannios Candy for the middle school Valentine’s Day delivery; 10 $30 Aldi gift cards from Ceil Parteleno; 10 $25 IGA gift cards for food, clothing and hygiene items from Struthers Rotary; and two POW/ MIA flags to the district from Beverly Pack.
● Approved the district facility management systems and fire alarm systems service agreement with Johnson Controls effective March 1 through Feb. 28, 2027, at $25,108.
● Approved the 60 -month postage machine lease agreement with Quadient at a monthly cost of $221.07.
● Approved the district software service continuation agreement with Johnson Controls effective May 2 through April 30, 2027, for $3,421. This is the second year of a three-year agreement.
● Approved the maintenance agreement with Gardiner Trane effective March 1 through Feb. 28, 2027.
● Approved the facility use agreement between the Struthers Baseball League and the Struthers High School softball program.
● Approved these appointments: Samantha DuBois and Jennifer Jones as middle school assistant track coaches at $2,352.72 each; approved Samantha Dubois as head soccer coach at $4,705.44; Marybeth Brennen as paraprofessional/ bus aide at $13,987; and Colin Mateo as assistant track coach at $2,352.72.

PRESENT: Judy Gozur, Gary Bednarik, Beth Donofrio, Tony Kelly and Tina Tsagaris
The board:
● Approved continued membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
● Approved the district’s financial forecast for submission to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce by Feb. 28.
● Approved the following donations: 12 furniture dollies from an anonymous donor; a hot dog roller ($200 value) from Melissa Chetsko to the high school band; and a Mendini soprano clarinet ($75 value) from Tracy Feasler and Arin Frondorf to the high school band.
● Approved a service agreement with Johnson Controls Fire Protection LP for the testing and inspection of the fire alarm system at Campbell Memorial High School in the amount of $2,050.
● Approved a memorandum of understanding for College Credit Plus funding between Campbell City Schools and Stark State College.
● Approved a field placement agreement between Campbell City Schools and the Beeghly College of Liberal Arts, Social Sciences and Education at Youngstown State University to place teacher candidate students in classrooms.
● Approved a facilities use and services agreement with Youngstown State University for use of the WATTS Center for two-hour periods on March 6 and March 14 in the amount of $50 per hour for a total of $200.
● Approved a customer care support agreement with DataServ Integrations, LLC for Wi-Fi equipment in the high school parking lot and football stadium in the amount of $206.16.
● Approved an agreement with Discover Video for the maintenance of the Discover Video System at the Community Literacy Workforce and Cultural Center, which provides cable TV, digital signage and other TV features in the amount of $4,319.
● Approved a service agreement with Safehouse Preparatory to provide educational services for a student living in the Campbell City School District at a rate of $200 per day.
● Approved an agreement with Crago Pest Solutions & Inspections for the treatment of cracks and crevices at the CLWCC bimonthly in the amount of $180.
● Approved the following appointments: Teresa Rivera to the position of payroll / benefits specialist at a salary of $42,509; Alexandra Galantis to the certified position of after-school teacher at $26 per hour; up to an additional five hours for Tiffany Davis to administer the Ohio English Language Proficiency Assessment for a student receiving home instruction at a rate of $22 per hour and up to an additional 20 hours for Davis to administer the Ohio English Language Proficiency Screener to incoming kindergarten students at $22 per hour; Collin Michaels and Nick Micco as a volunteer baseball coaches; Benjamin Santiago as varsity baseball assistant coach at a stipend of $4,065.40; John Ryan as Middle School football head coach at $5,024.88; Kam Henley as middle school football assistant coach at $4,606.14; Dallan Patterson as varsity soccer head coach at $5,443.62; Ariel Dimas-Falero as varsity soccer assistant coach at $3,768.66; Anthony Pecchia as junior varsity soccer coach at $3,349.92; Tyler Allen as varsity volleyball head coach at $5,862.36; Jennifer Allen and Nereida McDowell as varsity volleyball assistant coaches each at $1,884.33; Paige Reed as junior varsity volleyball coach at $3,349.92; Zuza Livosky as 8th-grade volleyball coach at $3,349.92; Shardae Smith (Hurt) as dance line instructor at $837.48; William Mixon, Cody Reese and Nicholas Shiley as varsity football assistant coaches at $6,281.10 each; David Moore as equipment manager at $2.512.44; and Miguel Cubero as substitute custodial helper at $13.55 per hour.
● Commended Grace Papini and Carrie Stanyard for their quick thinking and calm response when providing care for a student who was choking on a mint during class Jan. 22, and students who have been invited by the Battelle Foundation to the Design Challenge State Showcase on March 4 in Columbus.
