WHAT: Board of education February meeting
PRESENT: Katie Berdis, Fred Marcum, Harold Porter, Don Sherwood and Kim Smrek
The board:
• Approved the January monthly financial report and the forecast report.
• Approved a donation of $100 from the Kuchert Family to the Fitch Concert Choir Tour.
• Approved submission and projections of expenditures, revenues and fund balances for fiscal year 2026, and for the three succeeding fiscal years ending 2027, 2028 and 2029.
• Accepted the resignations of Jessica Beall, Austintown Middle School assistant girls track coach, and Hannah Loeb, Austintown Intermediate School Title I teacher.
• Approved the transfers of Jaclyn Iagulli from AMS morning custodian to AIS head custodian, and Anthony Rudolphi from AES paraprofessional to AES special education paraprofessional.
• Approved the nonbargaining appointments of Isabella Cashioli, long-term substitute third-grade teacher; Kathryn Matasy, general education/intervention tutor (grades K-2) at $25 per hour; Emily Haggerty, general education/intervention tutor (grades K-2 at $25 per hour; and Mackenzie Hurst, AIS instructional assistant at $16.50 per hour.
• Approved the following appointments: Kira Mettille, assistant high school girls track coach at $3,521.32; Joseph Chepke II, assistant high school boys baseball coach at $3,201.20; Becki Spalding, assistant high school girls softball coach at $1,760.55; Robert Jones, assistant high school girls softball coach at $1,760.55; Booker Newberry, assistant weights track coach at $3,521.32; Myron Anderson, assistant high school boys track coach at $2,640.99; Samuel Gibbons, assistant high school girls track coach, 2,640.99; Nathaniel Armstrong, assistant middle school boys track coach at $2,881.08; Michael Hilliard, middle school boys head soccer coach at $5,762.16; Ross Linert, custodian, at $12 per hour; Rich Raymer as volunteer softball coach; Laura Frost as volunteer nurse for the choir field trip; and Julie Brauer, Suzanne McCarthy and Megan Samora as volunteer chaperones for the Ski Club.
• Approved several student field trips.
• Approved a resolution that board members may participate in the school district’s health care plan, provided that the member pays all premiums for coverage.
• Approved an agreement between the district and Hively Construction Company to award contracts on the remainder of the site work associated with the Fieldhouse Phase 2 Athletic Training Facility Site at $213,278.92.
• Approved the memorandum of understanding between the district and Stark State College for College Credit Plus.
