Barber arrested on Boardman domestic violence charges

BOARDMAN — A local man appeared in court Thursday morning after police said he attacked his live-in girlfriend earlier this week.

Mahoning County online records show that Rodney Seabrook, 47, of Glenwood Avenue, remains in the Mahoning County jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond. He was charged with domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor, and violation of a protection order, a fourth-degree felony.

The Boardman police report states that Howland police arrested Seabrook on Tuesday afternoon, based on warrants issued that day through Mahoning County Boardman Court.

The report states that Seabrook has been employed as a barber at the “A Man’s Image” barber shop inside Howland’s Grand Resort.

The report states that Seabrook’s girlfriend, with whom he has been living in Boardman for the past four years, came to the Boardman Police Department on Tuesday afternoon to report the attack that occurred about 11 p.m. Monday inside the Glenwood Avenue home.

The report states the woman told police the incident began when Seabrook arrived home and she confronted him about cheating on her. She told police that Seabrook regularly goes to other women’s houses after work, and unless he is at the barber shop, she never knows where he is.

When confronted, she said Seabrook refused to let her out of her bedroom, and when she tried to get around him, he threw her to the ground, got on top of her and began choking her, the report states.

She told police that when she tried to kick him in the groin to get him off her, she missed, but he did get up and began throwing her around in two different rooms of the home. She said she does not know exactly how long the incident lasted, but Seabrook then went to sleep and she stayed up all night.

The report notes that the woman had visible bruises and cuts on her arms, legs, left hand and face, and visible swelling on her right hand. She said she was having trouble moving the index finger on her right hand.

The report states police took photo evidence of the injuries.

The police report states that the woman made the complaint about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and Howland police called Boardman to notify them of the arrest about 7:15 p.m.
