St. Dominic to celebrate Feast of the Epiphany
YOUNGSTOWN — St. Dominic Catholic Church, 77 E. Lucius Ave., invites the community to celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany, also known as Dia de Reyes, on Sunday following the afternoon Mass, which begins at noon.
The family-friendly celebration commemorates the visit of the three kings (Los Tres Reyes Magos) to Jesus, symbolizing the revelation of Christ to all nations. The feast holds deep significance in many cultures, particularly in Puerto Rico and Mexico, where Día de Reyes is one of the most beloved religious and family celebrations of the year.
Following Mass, families are invited to enjoy a gathering that will include a photo booth, where children and parents can take pictures with the three kings. All children will receive gifts, donated by a benefactor from Canfield, given in loving memory of her brother.
The celebration also will feature the sharing of the traditional Rosca de Reyes, a sweet bread enjoyed throughout Latin America on this feast day, accompanied by hot chocolate and traditional Mexican beverages.
