Man reports he was forced to take money from bank

4 juveniles charged for involvement

YOUNGSTOWN — Four juveniles were arrested after a man alleged that a male he invited over to his home Saturday pointed a gun at his head and demanded money and tried to force the victim to obtain cash from his mobile banking app on his phone.

The incident was reported at 5:05 p.m.

The suspect and another male then used the victim’s keys to drive the victim’s Volvo with the victim in a passenger seat and took him to two Youngstown banks, a police report states.

At the second bank, which was downtown, the victim was required to withdraw $600 and give it to the suspects. The suspects then ordered the victim out of the car and left him in the area of Fifth Avenue and Bradley Lane on the North Side, the report states.

About 10:13 p.m. Saturday, officers saw a car matching the description of the stolen Volvo at the Gateway Gas Mart, 1231 Market St. It checked out as the stolen vehicle from earlier Saturday.

Officers followed the vehicle from the gas station and made a traffic stop at East Myrtle Avenue and Erie Street on the South Side.

One of the juveniles was charged with a high level felony for being involved in the banking incidents, and another juvenile was charged with receiving stolen property for being in possession of the stolen vehicle.

An attempt to confirm what charges were filed in Mahoning County Juvenile Court court against the juveniles late Tuesday afternoon was not successful.

Starting at $3.23/week.
