Man accused of making threats in Boardman

BOARDMAN — A local man is facing charges after allegedly breaking his ex-girlfriend’s door and threatening to do the same to her, all in front of police.

Willie Bee Richardson. 40, of Youngstown, is charged with one count of domestic violence threats, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.

He was arraigned Tuesday after his Friday arrest at the Alburn Drive home where he had lived for 11 years with the woman and their three children.

The report states that the woman called to say Richardson was trying to break into the house, and Richardson also called police to say he wanted to get his personal belongings from the home.

Officers encountered him in the driveway, where he told police they were splitting up and he wanted to “break her (expletive) face” but he wasn’t going to because the children were there. He said that if the kids were not there, he would have no problem going to jail for assaulting her, the police report states.

The report states the woman showed police text messages that Richardson sent, in which he said “I’m going to break your (expletive) face, call the police, I’m pulling up” and “if (stuff) is in the dumpster I’m going to go to prison for hurting you.”

The woman told police Richardson showed up and immediately began pounding on the door and kicking it, causing damage to the window in the storm door, which police reported they could see.

The woman said she did not want to have Richardson arrested because she didn’t want her daughter to see it, and it would only make the situation worse. Police arrested him nonetheless.

Mahoning County Austintown Court Judge Scott Hunter on Tuesday imposed a $1,500 cash or surety bond and ordered Richardson not to have contact with the woman.

He is due in court for a pretrial hearing on Dec. 16.

Court records show that Richardson pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct in 2016, amended down from the initial charge of domestic violence.

He also has convictions from Canfield in 2015 for receiving stolen property, in the same year in Austintown for petty theft, and in Canfield in 2018 for possession of drug paraphernalia, and for drug possession in Youngstown in 2018.

Charges in Youngstown for assault, menacing, and criminal endangering of children in 2020 and 2021 were all dismissed, court records show.
