YOUNGSTOWN — The driver of one of three vehicles involved in a Saturday night crash on the Madison Avenue Expressway near Wirt Street on the North Side has died.

The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office identified the driver who died as Kelly Grimes, 48. She died Monday morning at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, according to a news release.

The crash happened at about 9 p.m. Three people were taken to the hospital.

Police said they initially responded to a two-vehicle accident, and then another vehicle became involved. One of the vehicles also caught on fire.

The crash remains under investigation by the Youngstown Police Department and the coroner’s office.
