YNDC gets $2.47 million in grants for home repairs, down payments

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. received $2.475 million in grants from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati’s Affordable Housing Program for home repairs and down payment assistance.

YNDC partnered with Farmers National Bank on a $1.5 million application to support home repairs to 84 units of owner-occupied housing in Mahoning and Columbiana counties.

YNDC teamed with Huntington National Bank and CareSource Reinsurance LLC on a successful $975,000 application to support down payment assistance of up to $10,500 per unit to 75 homebuyers in the Mahoning Valley.

Ian Beniston, YNDC’s executive director, said the development corporation “is honored to receive these grant awards and looks forward to accelerating our continued work to further improve housing quality, increase homeownership and stabilize neighborhoods throughout Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.”

YNDC received $2.54 million in grants last year from the Federal Home Loan bank for home repairs, down payment assistance and new construction.
