Veterans Day events

Saturday

BEAVER — 11 a.m. program at the Beaver Township safety building.

Sunday

BOARDMAN — noon concert and lunch at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 119 Stadium Drive, honoring veterans with music and verse.

BRACEVILLE — 2 p.m. program with a Vietnam veteran at the township hall hosted by the Braceville America 250 Committee.

CORTLAND — 2 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial, Point Park on South High Street. All military veterans will be honored, and special recognition will be given to W.W. II and Korean War veterans in attendance. In case of rain, the program will be held at Cortland Christian Church, 153 Grove St.

Nov. 11

AUSTINTOWN — 9 a.m. at Austintown Fitch High School auditorium with guest speaker, U.S. Army veteran and Congressional Medal of Honor winner Kenneth David of Girard.

BOARDMAN — Glenwood Junior High will host its traditional Veterans Day Assembly — one of the district’s largest events — by welcoming more than 50 veterans from all branches of the military. The program includes the solemn White Table Ceremony, as well as guest speakers, Youngstown State University President Bill Johnson and Mahoning County Prosecutor Lynn Maro. Video messages from Gov. Mike DeWine and U.S. Sen. Jon Husted, R-Ohio, made specifically for the students, also will be shared. The veterans will enjoy refreshments with students following the ceremony. The annual event has become a meaningful tradition for students to personally connect with and thank those who have served. Veterans still interested in attending can RSVP to Glenwood’s main office at 330-726-3414.

GIRARD — 6 p.m. parade from Boardman Medical Supply to the Girard viaduct for rifle salute and performance by Girard High School Band, then to the city building veterans marker for a program with Mayor Mark Zuppo.

MIDDLEFIELD — The Cardinal Local School District will host its annual Veterans Day breakfast and assembly at Cardinal Junior / Senior High School, 14785 Thompson Ave., Middlefield. The breakfast will be at 8:30 a.m. and the assembly will be at 9:30 a.m. The event is open to the public.

STRUTHERS — 11 a.m. ceremony at Struthers Veterans Memorial, corner of Morrison Street and Euclid Avenue hosted by Struthers city schools.

WARREN — 11 a.m. ceremony coordinated by the Trumbull County Veterans Service Commission at First Presbyterian Church in Warren, with a parade approximately at 12:15 p.m. coordinated by the Tribune Chronicle.

YOUNGSTOWN — 11 a.m. program at the county courthouse rotunda hosted by the Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission.
