WHAT: Board of education meeting Nov. 18
PRESENT: Walter Baber, Patrick Bundy, Mary Carcelli, Robert Noble and Ron Shives
The board:
● Approved amending the service agreement between the Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio (ESCEO) and the Struthers City School District to add technology services.
● Approved the contract with Supplemental Education Services Inc. for the Islamic Academy of Youngstown for Title I services for the 2025-26 school year.
● Accepted donations to the elementary school from Belinda Fiorentine of Holy Family Church. Donations included socks, hats, gloves, headphones, food bank vouchers and underwear.
● Accepted donations to the high school pantry from Struthers Rotary. Donations included cases of water, food, clothes and hygiene products.
● Approved a stipend of $1,500 for sports adviser Jennifer Monus for the 2025-26 school year.
● Approved a request from Anita Brodnan, music teacher at the elementary school, for approximately six additional weeks of Family Medical Leave of Absence.
● Appointed Denise Robison to the position of third-grade teacher at the elementary school for the 2025-26 school year at a salary of $4,313.32 for 22 contract days.
● Appointed the following personnel to the positions of after school tutors at the high school: Kate Coppola, math; Kevin Dailey, social studies; Sophia Yargo, English; and Jessica Zappia, science.
● Approved adding Marybeth Brennen as a substitute bus aide / monitor.
● Renewed the following personnel to supplemental positions: Jennifer Jones, assistant track coach at $2,3520.72; John Martin, assistant baseball coach at $2,352.72; Anthony Perfilio, assistant baseball coach at $2,352.72; and Michael Duponty, assistant bys basketball coach at $4,313.32.
● Appointed Stacie Perez as a girls basketball volunteer.
● Accepted letters of resignation from Martha Morrow, bus aide / paraprofessional; Anna Marie D’abruzzi, paraprofessional at the elementary school; Janet Marstellar, cafeteria tech at the middle school; and Jonathan Barth, assistant girls tennis coach.
