Man hurt in Austintown bar shooting
AUSTINTOWN — A man is in stable condition and a suspect is in custody following a shooting at Chipper’s Bar and Grill Sunday morning, according to the Austintown Police Department.
Police received the call of a shooting at 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the bar off North Edgehill Road.
A news release from the police department states a man in his 20s was struck by gunfire. When police arrived, they secured the scene and rendered aid to the victim.
He was treated at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital and is in stable condition.
Austintown police, with the assistance of law enforcement officers from multiple agencies, located the suspect in the Craig Beach area and was taken into custody by Milton Township police officers.
A report states charges are pending for felonious assault and weapons violations and will be filed in Mahoning County Court today.
