Coroner identifies woman found Nov. 10 on South Side
YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office has identified the person who was found dead at the intersection of Belleview and East Chalmer avenues on the South Side Nov. 10 as Nicole Carbone, 37.
Youngstown police were sent there at 3:29 a.m. and found the body in a vacant lot on the southeast corner of the intersection, according to a police report. The person was on her back and deceased, a report stated.
Capt. Jason Simon of the detective division of the Youngstown Police Department said the death is being treated as a suspicious death.
The coroner’s office was notified of the death at 3:49 a.m. Nov. 10. Carbone was later identified using fingerprints, according to a coroner’s office news release.
An autopsy was conducted at the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the incident remains under investigation by the Youngstown Police Department and the coroner’s office.
A GoFundMe page established by her daughter states that Carbone died three days before her birthday.
“Our family is devastated, and her death is still under active investigation as we search for answers. Nicole leaves behind five children, ages 6, 7, 12, 13, and 18, who are now facing the world without their mother,” her daughter, Alivia Carbone, stated.
“She was deeply loved by her family, friends, and everyone who knew her. As the youngest of five siblings, Nicole brought warmth, humor, and light into the lives of those around her. Because her passing was sudden and violent, Nicole had no life insurance or savings, and we are struggling to cover the cost of her funeral and burial arrangements. We want to honor her with dignity and ensure her children receive the support they desperately need during this unimaginable time.”
