Body found in city Monday; two shot Sunday
YOUNGSTOWN — The body of a female was found early Monday alongside the road at Belleview and East Chalmers avenue on the South Side.
Officers were sent there at 3:29 a.m. and found the body in a vacant lot on the southeast corner of the intersection. The person was on her back and deceased, a report states.
The investigation was turned over to detectives, crime-scene personnel and the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office.
TWO SHOT
Meanwhile, two men suffered gunshot wounds along Market Street in the city — one on the sidewalk and the other man inside a nearby store Sunday night. One was in stable condition and the other was still in critical condition, Capt. Jason Simon of the Youngstown Police Department Detective Division said Monday afternoon.
The one on the sidewalk had at least one gunshot wound. The other man had multiple gunshot wounds, the report states. Police were called to the scene at 10:46 p.m.
Ambulance personnel transported both victims to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital to be treated. Crime lab and detectives arrived to carry out an investigation. The specific area of Market Street was blacked out in the report.
