WHAT: City council meeting Monday

PRESENT: John Moliterno, Lily Martuccio, Jeff Kay, Mark Standohar, Keith Schubert, Thomas Grumley, Reynald Paolone and Mayor Mark Zuppo

ABSENT: Sam Zirafi

Council:

• Presented the Willie Constantino Memorial Employee of the Month awards to Jennie Weiss of the police department and Domenico Simone of the wastewater treatment plant for their service to the community.

• Heard from interim police Chief John Freeman he has applied for a reimbursable State Homeland Security grant for amplifiers for the school properties.

• Heard from Moliterno, who said he is at looking at ways to attract more patrolmen for the police department.

• Heard from resident Judy Worley of Idaho Avenue, who asked about grants for improvements for the Parkwood area. Officials said an application has been submitted and officials will find out in the spring if the city is receiving any money.

• Passed a resolution to seek statements of qualifications for professional engineering services for the city.

Trumbull County

WHAT: Trumbull County Educational Service Center governing board meeting Monday

PRESENT: Al Haberstroh, Laura Rubesich, Denise Domhoff, Deborah Patchin and Tom Krispinsky

The board:

• Approved an agreement with KO Consulting LLC for grant writing services for the center at up to $1,750 per month for two years, November 2025 to October 2027.

• Received a Howmet Aerospace Grant of $15,000 for workforce development for students.

• Hired Kiley Pal as student services administrative assistant on a one-year 260-day contract effective Nov. 1.

• Hired Karrie Lawson as an occupational therapist on an as-needed basis effective Nov. 1.

• Accepted THE retirement resignation of Richelle DiBacco as a classroom assistant effective Dec. 31.

• Approved a memorandum of understanding with the classified employees union to have the same bereavement leave policy as the certified employees union.

• Approved an agreement for health and human services for Boardman, Chagrin Falls, Grand Valley and Wickliffe schools.

• Approved an agreement with Raptor Technologies, formerly Public School Works, for school employee training.

• Approved an agreement with the Grand Resort for administrators conference Aug. 6.

WHAT: Board of Education meeting Oct. 15

PRESENT: Nick Gallo, Jessica Krumpak, Donna Shields, Kristina Merola and Mike Morris

The board:

• Heard from high school principal Meghan Watson and elementary principal Eric Jones, who talked about the state report cards and the school district achieving a rating of four stars. They discussed areas of the report card and plans for continued success in various areas for students and staff.

• Accepted the resignation of Chelsey Palmer, school nurse, effective Nov. 11. The district is looking for a new nurse.

• Approved teacher Danielle Ronghi as instructor for the ACT boot camp on Nov. 15.

• Approved a contract with Community Behavior Consulting LLC at $93,600.

Girard

WHAT: Board of education meeting Sept. 25

PRESENT: Vincent Ragozine, Joseph Datchuk, Sue Ellen Harris-Davis, Tammy King and Joe Castor

The board:

• Was informed Girard Intermediate School will be digging up a buried time capsule and burying a new time capsule at 10 a.m. Nov. 25. A presentation by students will be made at the October board meeting.

• Rescheduled meetings for the rest of the year because of holidays, with meetings moved to Nov. 20 and Dec. 18.

• Set substitute pay for bus drivers at $19 per hour, custodians at $11.25 per hour, nurses at $17.50 per hour and building support personnel at $15.60 per hour.

• Approved an agreement with SMARTS for a substitute music teacher, Sept. 2, 2025, to Feb. 13, 2026, for K-6 music.

• Approved Alexandra Lundberg as a robotics volunteer.
