WHAT: Board of Education meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Walter Baber, Patrick Bundy, Mary Carcelli, Robert Noble and Ronald Shives, Superintendent Pete Pirone and Treasurer Ryan Cene

The board:

• Heard from Pirone about the new Cybersecurity Co-Pilot program, which was mandated by House Bill 96, which states districts must create cybersecurity programs, conduct staff training and report cyber incidents to the state. The public must approve any ransomware payments through a formal resolution. The board approved a managed services agreement with DataServ’s Cybersecurity Co-Pilot program at a cost of $12,500.

• Approved a resolution declaring it necessary to renew an existing 6.9-mill tax levy for the purpose of current expenses.

• Accepted donations of $2,500 from Michael Klacik to the Struthers High School band program, and the donation of 85 books to the Struthers Elementary School Library valued at approximately $653 from Taralyn Markotan.

• Accepted a letter of retirement from Marni Denmeade, middle school social studies teacher, effective May 28, 2026.

• Accepted a letter of retirement from Cheryl Ryan, Title 1 math teacher at the elementary school, effective May 28, 2026.

• Approved the appointment of Jacob Adams, Floyd Cracraft and Jaclyn Kuntz as after-school Intervention specialists at the middle school at $25 an hour.

• Approved the appointment of Jacob Green to the position of seven-hour janitor technician at the middle school at a salary of $23,384.

• Approved the formation of wrestling as a high school club sport.

• Approved the financial reports and investments for September as submitted by Cene.
