(3 to elect)

Kimberly L. Snowden-Pittman*

AGE: not provided

PRIOR PUBLIC SERVICE: Serving third four-year term as a Jackson-Milton school board member, having begun in 2014.

GOALS:

When asked to state her top three goals for another term in office, she told The Vindicator the first one was “finishing” several key initiatives and improvement projects, “ensuring that the community’s investments of time, resources, and trust result in meaningful, lasting outcomes for our students and schools.”

Another is continuing the “upward momentum” academically the school district has had, including “strong instructional programs, providing resources for teachers and maintaining high expectations for all students so that every child has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.”

The third goal is assisting with the change of superintendents because Superintendent Kirk Baker’s contract expires in the future and the need to replace him. Pittman stated that “experienced board members are essential to providing stability and guidance. I will work to ensure a smooth and thoughtful transition that supports our staff, students, and families while preserving the district’s vision and goals.”

Tausha E. Bacorn*

AGE:: 37

GOALS:

Bacorn said she hopes to be reelected to the school board “so that I have the opportunity to learn from those who are most experienced before they move on.

She said now also is a good time for her to be elected to the school board because “our community is changing. Just in the six years since I have been here, I have watched as many from outside the area now calling Lake Milton home. I do not have a specific agenda for my office on the school board. There are problems I hope to see addressed during time of service, absolutely, but most of them are minor in the grand scheme of things.

“My primary objective is to help position our school district and our community for many more years of success. I believe that will be done by paying attention to the details, finding win-win scenarios for our community and building trust between parents and administrators at the school.”
