Council:
• Approved a request by Councilman Michael Mogg, D-3rd Ward, for Law Director Mark Villano to draw up the necessary paperwork for an ordinance adjusting police Chief Robert Thompson’s compensation to $86,640 annually, effective Oct. 1.
• Approved Mogg’s request for Villano to draw up the necessary paperwork for an ordinance adjusting the police data clerk’s compensation to $20 per hour, effective Oct. 1. Mogg said the position was previously being paid $15 an hour.
• Heard from Mogg that a proclamation will be presented at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 in the city council chambers for the fire department, commemorating their 150 years of service to the community.
• Heard from Mogg that a bridge near Pizza Works will be dedicated for the city’s first responders on Oct. 25. The time is yet to be determined.
• Advanced to second reading an ordinance permitting the city’s Board of Control to enter into an agreement with Trumbull County for indigent defense services for the period of July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.
• Suspended the second and third reading of an ordinance allowing Service Director Ray Farcas to apply for federal congestion mitigation / air quality funds programmed by the Eastgate Regional Council of Governments for the city’s signal controller replacement project, and approved passing it.
• Suspended the second and third reading of an ordinance authorizing MS Consultants, Inc. as an agent and project manager for the city for the purpose of applying for Issue II money and to execute all necessary contracts and administrate implementation of Helen, Falcon and Hillview drives and Scott Street improvements and approved passing it.
• Heard from Councilwoman Cathy Cummings, D-4th Ward, that all of the painting is done at Jones Field Park and Recreation, and lines have been painted on the basketball court.
