Liberty police attempting to identify alleged purse thief
Staff report
LIBERTY — Township police are seeking information on a man allegedly involved in a theft at the Belmont Avenue Giant Eagle.
According to a Sept. 12 police report, a woman reported she was done shopping and walked out of the store when she realized she forgot her purse in a shopping cart.
The woman told the officer that a Giant Eagle employee handed her purse to another person, who claimed it belonged to his cousin. She added that the purse contained multiple debit and credit cards, as well as prescription medicine, and that she was contacting credit card companies to cancel the cards.
The report states the store’s manager told the woman that the man who took the purse was a bald white man wearing a white shirt. Liberty police posted a picture of the suspect to the department’s Facebook page Monday afternoon, seeking the man’s identity.
