Woman pleads guilty to burglary

YOUNGSTOWN — Angelina R. Pesa, 29, of Youngstown, pleaded guilty Friday to charges of burglary, misdemeanor domestic violence and misdemeanor assault in a June 18, 2024, incident on Argyle Avenue in Boardman.

Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge Maureen Sweeney accepted Pesa’s guilty pleas and authorized Pesa to enter the CARES Program through the Mental Health Court Sweeney oversees. Under the program, a person who receives treatment and successfully completes the program can have their charges dismissed. The primary goal is to keep defendants psychiatrically stable and crime-free by teaching them to make healthy changes in their lives, according to an online pamphlet about the program.

Pesa was accused of breaking into the home of her child’s father and assaulting him and his girlfriend.

A Boardman police report states Pesa was arrested about 3:30 a.m. June 18 at the home. The report states the man told police he woke up to the sound of someone outside the house banging on a window air-conditioning unit, trying to force entry to the home. The man told police he knew it was Pesa and went outside to confront her.

The report states the man and his girlfriend told police Pesa is not allowed at the house but did not indicate there is a protection order in place against her. The report states that Pesa had someone drive her to the house to check on the baby after she could not reach the man by phone.

The man said he told her to leave, but she succeeded in pushing the AC unit out and entering the house, then attacked him when he tried to stop her, according to the report. When police arrived, they found Pesa inside the bedroom, holding the baby, with the man standing nearby.

The report states the man had visible minor injuries to his face, neck and arms.

The man’s girlfriend told police she woke up to the sound of Pesa and the man fighting. When she tried to intervene, Pesa kicked her in the stomach and scratched her.

She told police she then called 911 and closed the door so Pesa could not leave with the baby.

The report states that Pesa’s friends told police they were driving past the house to see if the man was there with the baby when Pesa jumped out of the car and started banging on the window of the house.
