Woman claims she was sexually accosted at store

BOARDMAN — A woman reported a disturbing encounter with a man at a retail shop over the weekend.

A Boardman police report states that a woman told police she was at T.J. Maxx on U.S. Route 224 about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, browsing in the kitchenware section, when she noticed a man standing directly behind her, and she thought she felt his genitals make contact with her.

The woman stated that when she turned around, the man’s genitals were exposed.

She stated that she told the man to get away from her and said, “That’s gross,” to which he replied, “Oh, I didn’t know that was out.”

The woman stated she immediately went to report the incident to store employees.

She described the man as a light-skinned white man in his late 20s or early 30s, average height and thin, with dark hair and eyes, and tattoos on his left arm. She said he was wearing blue flannel pajama pants and a grey T-shirt.

The report states that store employees were unable to locate the man.

The incident marks the second such offense in the township in the past week or so.

Last week, a teenager and his mother reported that a man attempted to solicit the boy for sex when the teen approached the man in the Save-A-Lot parking lot at the Boardman Plaza to help him with his cart. The report states the man told the teen he would like to see his genitals and told him to come to his motel room.

The teen was able to describe the man and his car, which was found at the Wagon Wheel Motel, where the man allegedly told the boy to visit him.

Police confronted the man, but he denied the incident and police were unable to arrest him at the time.

Save-A-Lot employees stated they have had problems with the man before.

The man has not yet been charged with any offenses.

Starting at $3.23/week.
