State seeks poll workers for Nov. 4 election

The Ohio Secretary of State’s Office is asking Ohioans to consider becoming poll workers during the Nov. 4 general election.

“Free and fair elections don’t just happen, they’re made possible by thousands of committed Ohioans from every corner of our 88 counties,” said Frank LaRose, secretary of state. “These men and women are the guardians of our voting process, ensuring every ballot is cast and counted with integrity.”

The office has a number of programs to encourage participation.

That includes “Give a Day for Democracy” in which businesses support elections by providing employees with time off to serve as poll workers; “Professionals at the Polls” for attorneys, Realtors, social workers and other professionals to earn continuing education credits by being poll workers; “Second Call to Duty” for veterans and “Youth at the Booth” for high school students who are at least 17 years old to work as poll workers.

“Serving as a poll worker is a rewarding way to help your neighbors and community make their voices heard in a secure and trustworthy election,” LaRose said.

To sign up to be a poll worker in Mahoning County, call the board of elections at 330-783-2474.

In Trumbull County, call the board of elections at 330-369-4050.

Starting at $3.23/week.
