Pharmacist gives up his license in plea deal

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN — Colt J. Edwards, 33, of Trail’s Edge Drive in Hubbard, was sentenced this week to two years of probation after pleading guilty to three low-level felony counts of theft of drugs.

He also agreed in his June 30 plea before Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge Maureen Sweeney to permanently surrender his Ohio Pharmacy license, according to his plea agreement.

He could have gotten up to 18 months in prison on each of his convictions, which were for stealing Zolpidem, Tramadol and Hydrocodone / Acetaminophen from the pharmacy where he worked in Boardman.

The offenses occurred June 1, 2023, through Sept. 19, 2023, while Edwards was working as a pharmacist. An investigation was carried out by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.

The Board of Pharmacy issued a summary suspension / notice of opportunity hearing for Edwards on Sept. 28, 2023, according to an Ohio Board of Pharmacy document.

On June 23, 2025, “as part of a plea agreement” in Mahoning County, Edwards “agreed to voluntarily surrender his license to practice pharmacy in the state of Ohio,” the document states.

Edwards was interviewed by the company’s Asset-Protection Team on Sept. 14, 2023, and admitted to the drug thefts and that he was receiving addiction services, the document states.

He was indicted April 11, 2024, and has been free on $10,000 bond since then.

Starting at $3.23/week.
