WHAT: Village council meeting Wednesday

PRESENT: Sean Schmidt, Kerry Reckard, John Metzinger, Kyles Joynes, Chad Jones, Don Smith and Mayor Ray Lewis

Council:

• Tabled entering into an agreement with the Trumbull County public defender's office for representation of indigents until after terms and dates of the agreement are adjusted by the county commissioners.

• Announced the annual Oktoberfest will be Oct. 11 at Woodland Park with proceeds from the event to benefit park projects. Various activities, vendors and musical performances will take place throughout the day.

PRESENT: Kyle Joynes, Kerry Reckard, Chad Jones, John Metzinger, Don Smith and Mayor Ray Lewis

ABSENT: Sean Schmidt

Council:

• Approved final reading to place a 1.5-mill, five-year renewal tax levy on the November general election ballot to raise $28,000 for the general fund for day-to-day operations in the village. The levy generates funds set in 1977 with no increase in taxes.

• Extended the agreement with KO Consulting for one year for grant services for the village.

• Announced street paving of Utah, Nebraska and Dakota that began this week. RT Vernal Paving and Excavating is completing the project for $168,570.
