Man indicted in gunfire case on West Side

YOUNGSTOWN — Johnathan Spikes, 47, whose address is listed as the Mahoning County jail, was indicted Thursday on a charge of improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation or school safety zone with a firearm specification in a 7:02 p.m.June 14 case on North Portland Avenue on the West Side in which he was accused of shooting at a house and a car. No one was injured.

If Spikes is convicted, he could get more than eight years in prison.

When officers arrived on North Portland Avenue, they found the home and a vehicle had been struck by gunfire, according to a Youngstown police report.

Officers also found Spikes at his home in the 100 block of North Hartford Avenue, and transported him to the detective division at the Youngstown Police Department.

Spikes has been in the Mahoning County jail since June 14, according to Mahoning County jail records, which spell his first name differently than Mahoning County Common Pleas Court records.

Others indicted Thursday were:

• Charles Ratliff, 84, Rush Boulevard, cocaine possession.

• Deshawn Bradford, 19, Pasadena Avenue, carrying a concealed weapon.

• Paul B. Downing, 41, Belden Avenue, felony theft.

• Maleel Wilson, 30, West Aiken Avenue, Pittsburgh, aggravated drug possession.

• Roderick Doucett, 36, Houston, being a felon in possession of a firearm.

• Dwaylyn Nadal, 39, Mahoning County jail, cocaine possession with a specification of forfeiture of money in a drug case, fentanyl-related compound possession with a specification of forfeiture of money in a drug case.

• John M. Lee, 31, West Webb Road, Austintown, strangulation, misdemeanor domestic violence, misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor aggravated menacing.

• John Myles, 39, South Forest Avenue, fentanyl-related compound possession.

• Duane Jackson, 44, South Pearl Street, fentanyl-related compound possession.

• Marcus Morgan, 40, Bryson Street, fentanyl-related compound possession with a specification of forfeiture of money in a drug case and cocaine possession with a specification of forfeiture of money in a drug case.

• Andre M. Ballinger II, 36, Mahoning County jail, strangulation, domestic violence, misdemeanor resisting arrest, felonious assault and felony domestic violence.

• Joseph Perez, 43, Manchester Avenue, fentanyl-related compound possession.

• Brendon Nichols, 30, Bayman Drive, felony domestic violence.

• Corey M. Hoffman, 35, Mahoning County jail, felony grand theft.

• Michelle L. O’Donahue, 51, Mahoning County jail, felony theft, misdemeanor assault and two counts of misdemeanor theft.

• Charles J. Bulatko, 32, Benwood Avenue, felony theft.

• Alonzo J. Jackson, 31, Mahoning County jail, cocaine possession.

• Marilynn J. Campbell, 40, Manhattan Avenue, felony unlawful transactions in weapons.

The grand jury refused to indict Jeffrey Brown of Youngstown on two weapons charges and a third charge.
