Man who raped Mahoning deputy gets life in prison for murder
AKRON — A Summit County Common Pleas Court judge sentenced Rondell Harris, 36, of East Cleveland, to 24 years to life in prison Monday for the 2016 murder of Damon Harris Jr., 24, outside of a barbershop on Copley Road in Akron.
Harris confessed to the murder in May of 2022, the same month he raped a woman deputy working as a housing officer in the Mahoning County jail.
He is serving 26 to 31 1/2 years in prison for the rape of the deputy, plus kidnapping, tampering with evidence and disrupting public services.
