Man missing from Campbell found dead
YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office has identified the man whose body was found in a wooded area on East Myrtle Avenue Sunday as Richard A. Rayford, 40. He was reported missing by the Campbell Police Department more than a week ago.
The coroner’s office was notified at 11:25 a.m. Sunday that a deceased individual was found in a wooded area on East Myrtle Avenue on the South Side, according to a Monday coroner’s office news release. The individual was identified by fingerprints as Rayford. An autopsy will be conducted at the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The circumstances of the death remain under investigation by the Youngstown Police Department, Campbell Police Department and the coroner’s office, the release states.
A Campbell Police Department Facebook post stated that Rayford was last seen at noon July 17 in the 500 block of Blossom Avenue in Campbell near Roosevelt Park. He was described as a black man, 6-foot tall and 175 pounds with brown hair and eyes. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and black hat, the Facebook post stated.
