LIBERTY — Township police were called out Saturday evening for reports of numerous gunshots fired in the 2000 block of Pleasant Valley Road near Victory Christian School.

A caller told 911 of hearing numerous gunshots at 8:50 p.m. and then people leaving the area of the school parking lot quickly, with some running into a wooded area.

Reports state that someone was lying on the ground inside one of the pickleball courts, but it does not appear anyone was injured. People at the scene reported the gunshots were heard in the parking lot area.

Backboards at the court appeared to have been shot, the report states. Police contacted local hospitals to inform them to contact police if anyone came in with gunshot wounds. Police remained on the scene for several hours and collected dozens of shell casings. The shooting is still under investigation.
