Campbell woman set to appear for charges in Brookfield incident
Staff report
BROOKFIELD — A Campbell woman is set to appear in Trumbull County Eastern District Court today following a Wednesday incident at a fast food restaurant.
Ki’Mara McKinney, 20, faces charges of assault, robbery, menacing and identity fraud, as well as obstructing official business.
According to a news release from the Brookfield Township Police Department, officers received a call of someone being “attacked” at the Subway on Warren Sharon Road. Upon arriving, officers learned that McKinney was waiting outside for the restaurant to open, with employees telling officers she was pulling at the door and calling the restaurant upset that they weren’t open. Employees eventually started hanging up on her and ignoring her calls, according to the report.
Upon opening, McKinney entered and confronted one of the employees, and punched her in the face. An employee who tried separating them was also struck several times in the face by McKinney, police said.
The report states that McKinney reached into one of the employee’s pockets and took their cellphone before leaving in a silver vehicle. Police located a vehicle matching its description and made a traffic stop on state Route 7 near the Wyngate Mobile Home Park.
Upon speaking with McKinney, she provided officers with a fake name and claimed she was at the Subway, but denied any knowledge of the incident despite having the employee’s phone in her possession, the report states.
The release states McKinney was taken into custody, but was able to slip out of handcuffs and threatened harm toward the arresting officers. She was being held at the Trumbull County jail on her charges as of Wednesday afternoon.
The Subway employees were transported via EMS to St. Joseph Warren Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
