Youngstown mayoral hopeful’s home burglarized

Staff report

LIBERTY — The residence and garage of a Youngstown mayoral hopeful, John White, and his wife, Councilwoman Amber White, were burglarized over the weekend.

According to a police report, officers were dispatched to their Tibbetts Wick Road residence, and dispatchers told officers the house and garage of the property had miscellaneous items taken.

The officer spoke with the Whites, who explained that someone broke into the detached garage and stole a “large amount” of items. The report states that the Whites told the officer that they left the main door to the garage unlocked and the residence’s front door was unlocked. The officer noted there were no signs of forced entry at either location.

Amber told officers they believed the incident happened between Saturday night and Sunday.

A list of stolen items was attached to the report, and the report states she was given a business card and was told to tell the officer if the items were located.

The officer noted that officers were told there was an active protection order involving the couple, with Amber being the protected party. It was confirmed through dispatch and the Girard Municipal Court website, and John White was placed into custody and taken to the Trumbull County Jail. The report states the court recalled the protection order, and John was released from jail after jail staff were notified.
