Police, Crime Stoppers seek help in identifying East Side shooting suspects

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating two men involved in two May 17 East Side gas station shootings.

The shootings took place in or near the Quick Mart gas station, 1305 McGuffey Road, at 11:16 a.m. according to a police report.

The police department posted two photos of the men on the police department Facebook page. With the photos is a message that asks for the public to contact the police department if anyone recognizes either or both of the males or if anyone has any information regarding their whereabouts.

Anyone with information is asked to call Youngstown Police Detective Skowron at 330-742-8249 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 330-746-2583. The identity of anyone who calls will remain confidential, and the person may be eligible for a cash reward, the Facebook post states.

Officers were called to the gas station for a man being shot inside of the store, according to the police report. Officers were updated as they drove there. They learned that at least one victim had been shot, the police report stated.

When officers arrived, they were flagged down about 50 yards away at McGuffey Road at Berkeley Avenue for a man who had been shot and was on the sidewalk.

Officers were told that two men had fled east on foot. Other officers arrived to assist with the search. Ambulance personnel took the victim to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. Officers later learned that a woman also was shot and was taken by private vehicle to the same hospital.
