Jackson trustees award contract for Gladstone Road cleanup
Staff report
JACKSON TOWNSHIP — Trustees last week awarded a $10,200 contract to Trumbull Excavating & Supply, LLC in Girard to abate a nuisance property at 9687 Gladstone Road, which was declared unsafe and a nuisance at the April 8 trustees meeting.
Other bids received were from Steel Valley Contractors, $14,700 and Mills Landscape Service, Inc., $11,500, according to Fiscal Officer Judy Patton. She said the funds will come from the Jackson Township Fire Department’s Escrow Fund.
Patton said the owner of the property was given 30 days from the April 8 meeting to remove junk vehicles and debris from the property but did not do so and the house was demolished.
According to the contract, workers from Trumbull Excavating will remove the remaining structure debris and back fill the basement, with debris being disposed of at a licensed facility, remove all miscellaneous debris from the property, and grade the area to avoid ponding.
Patton said the vehicles, accessory sheds and barn will be allowed to remain until the August trustees meeting, where it will be discussed.
