Bicyclist injured after possible train collision

WEATHERSFIELD — A train hit a bicyclist near a railroad crossing on the border of Weathersfield and McDonald on Monday morning.

According to a police dispatch report, the incident occurred at 10:07 a.m. near East Second Street, near Railroad Crossing #14. The report states the call was related to a “train vs bicyclist.”

The train, operated by CSX, stopped after the collision. The bicyclist, possibly a male, was located 300 yards east of Olive Street on the south side of the tracks. His condition was not immediately clear. The dispatch report later listed the injury as “traumatic.”

The report states that emergency responders faced challenges pinpointing the exact location but eventually made contact with the victim near the old State Bridge by Olive Street. CSX employees assisted authorities on the scene, and a special representative from the company was dispatched.
