2 checkpoints set for this weekend
CANFIELD — The Mahoning County OVI Task Force will conduct sobriety checkpoints today and Saturday “to deter and intercept impaired drivers,” according to a task force news release.
Officers will be conducting a roadside check of drivers for alcohol and drug impairment. Specific details of the checkpoint will be announced later. Saturation patrols also will be conducted throughout the weekend.
The Mahoning County OVI Task Force’s primary mission is making the roads of Mahoning County safe, the release states. Those who will be consuming alcohol must make good decisions and choose not to drink and drive.
Support in operating the checkpoints and saturation patrols will be provided by participating agencies of the task force, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Ohio Department of Transportation, Mahoning County Safe Communities and Mahoning County Emergency Management Agency.
