Trumbull board announces new roof for school
Other upgrades set for summer
NILES — Remodeling and other work will continue throughout the summer at the Fairhaven School and the Tomaski Center off North Road, as the Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities has awarded contracts for roof work and new furniture.
The TCBDD at its May meeting approved entering into an agreement with Building Technologies Inc. at $1,204,300 for the Fairhaven School roof replacement.
Also, the board approved an agreement with Ohio Desk at $164,712 to purchase furniture and equipment for the administrative offices renovation project at the Tomaski Center.
Officials said work is to continue through the summer and expected to be completed in August.
Last year, the TCBDD initiated a renovation project for the administrative offices including window replacement.
The $1.2 million project involves gutting the existing building and constructing a new corporate-style interior.
Baker, Bednar, Snyder and Associates are providing architectural and engineering design services for the renovation.
United Contractors of Brookfield is doing the project work at $1.19 million.
Work began in January and staff was relocated to another TCBDD building on the site.
Also the TCBDD is in negotiations with classified workers represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 1992 and Ohio Council.
The board met in executive session on a tentative collective bargaining agreement with the union, but took no action.
