Reflections on 1985 tornado sought by newspaper

The Vindicator is seeking stories about the May 31, 1985, tornado that destroyed Newton Falls and damaged other communities.

This year is the 40th anniversary of the deadly twister, which also went through Niles, Hubbard and into Pennsylvania.

The newspaper in particular is looking for stories from people who took shelter during the storm, knew someone who was injured or killed or had their property damaged. These stories will be included in a series of vignettes that will be published in the newspaper’s May 31-June 1 weekend edition.

Photos also are being sought.
