WHAT: Board of Education meeting Thursday
PRESENT: Joseph Castor, Joseph Datchuk, Sue Ellen Harris-Davis, Tammy King and Vince Ragozine
The board:
● Approved granting permission for Trumbull County to proceed with renovations at the Girard Multigenerational Center, 443 Trumbull Ave., with community development block grant funds administered by the county.
● Approved Deidre Schimpf as a transportation director in training from May 15 to June 30 at $28.41 per hour. She replaces Brenda Madden, who is retiring as transportation director effective June 30.
● Accepted the resignations of Miranda Domiano as an intervention specialist at St. Rose School, effective June 7, and Dorothy Bada as high school guidance secretary, effective May 21.
● Hired Maria Jarvis as an intervention specialist on a one-year contract.
● Accepted the resignation of Craig Hannon as head boys basketball coach effective May 6
v Approved use of school facilities by the Girard Police Department for training.
● Approved the Success by Six summer program July 7-24.
● Entered into a three-year agreement with Julian and Grube to complete basic financial statements for fiscal year ending June 2025, June 2026 and June 2027 at $6,700 per year.
● Entered into an agreement with Trumbull County Educational Service Center for special education programs, personnel and services at $960,000 for fiscal year 2026.
● Recognized teachers Judy Barber-O’Brien with 26 years and Ashraf Hadi with 21 years for the robotics program in Girard. Barber-O’Brien is retiring this year.
● Received a draft from the Impact Group for the school’s strategic plan.
