Amp brings back Alice Cooper, Lee Brice

Two familiar acts in different genres will return to the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre this summer.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famer Alice Cooper brings his “Too Close for Comfort” tour to the venue on Aug. 17 and country veteran Lee Brice plays there on Sept. 18.

Both acts have played enough local shows in the last 10 to 15 years that they may be allowed to vote in local elections in November.

Cooper is making his second appearance at the amp, but he’s also played the Covelli Centre and Packard Music Hall three times each since 2010.

Cooper reunites with original bandmates Michael Bruce, Dennis Dunaway and Neal Smith for the first time in more than 50 years for a new album “The Revenge of Alice Cooper,” which will be released July 25. Original Alice Cooper group guitar player Glen Buxton, who died in 1997, also makes a guest appearance on the album, according to the press release, through guitar tracks from a previously unreleased song.

Bob Ezrin, who produced “Love It to Death,” “Killer,” “School’s Out” and “Million Dollar Babies” and continued to work with Cooper as a solo artist, produced the new record. The lead single, “Black Mamba,” also features Robby Krieger of The Doors.

Tickets for the 8:30 p.m. show range from $39.50 to $125.

The South Carolina-born Brice is married to Poland native Sara Reeveley, and he called Youngstown “another hometown” in an interview before his last area appearance in 2023 as direct support for Kid Rock for Y-Live.

Over the years, Brice has played the Youngstown amp, Covelli Centre and Packard Music Hall, and early in his career used to perform at the Dusty Armadillo in Rootstown.

Brice has had eight chart-topping country hits — “A Woman Like You,” “Hard to Love,” “I Drive Your Truck,” “I Don’t Dance,” “Rumor,” “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” “One of Them Girls” and “Memory I Don’t Mess With.” His latest single is “Cry.”

Brice’s brother, Lewis, and Jackson Dean will open the Sept. 18 concert. Tickets for his 7:30 p.m. show range from $36 to $80.75.

Both shows go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the Covelli Centre’s Southwoods Health box office and through Ticketmaster.

Online-only presales also are scheduled for both dates from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday. The password for Cooper is: POISON. The password for Brice is: SOUL.

Starting at $3.23/week.
